East Coast Twitter Crime Story.

East Coast Twitter Crime Story:

Launches midday tomorrow @eastcoaststory

Fancy yourself as the next Ian Rankin or Patricia Cornwell?

Well…Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival has teamed up with East Coast to launch the East Coast Crime Story on Twitter and create the first ever short crime story written using the social networking site.

Award winning author Martyn Waites (pictured right), who also writes under the alias Tania Carver, and is this year’s reader in residence at the Crime Writing Festival, will swing his axe to get the short crime story off to a flying start on Thursday 19th April at 12.00.

Martyn will post the opening 140 character sentence to the short story online using the Twitter alias@eastcoaststory, and is challenging you to contribute to the story by adding the next lines to keep the thriller going.

Once submitted, suggestions for the next lines of the story will be edited by Festival organisers, who will choose the best one and re-tweet the updated story to keep it moving. The tension will continue to build as it reaches it criminally creative climax on Friday 20th April.

The complete story will be posted online and you will be able to compete for the chance to win two First Class tickets to Harrogate and tickets to the Crime Writers Festival, by coming up with a title for the story.

So get your super sleuth and dastardly devious thinking caps on and prepare to hit us with your best ideas to make sure the East Coast Crime Story is tweet-tastically spine-tingling!
